Mary Beth Swindells
Welcome to Library.  My name is Mary Beth Swindells and I am the Media Specialist (although I prefer the title "Librarian") at both Nokomis and Neeta Schools.

Nokomis School
Students visit the library once every six day cycle.  During library time, we read books, work on parts of a book, learn about the differences between fiction books and non-fiction books, and practice selecting books to read for pleasure.

Each time students visit the library, they can select one book to take home.  Books are due back the next time their class visits the library.  There is no penalty for overdue books but students can only have one book checked out at a time.

Neeta School
Elementary School (grades 3-5)
Students visit the library once every six day cycle.  During library time, we read books, work on library-specific skills, learn more about the differences between fiction books and non-fiction books, practice using the Dewey Decimal system, and select books to read for pleasure.  Students also have time to read and take Battle of the Books Quizzes.  For more information on Battle of the Books, please see the Battle Page.

Each time students visit the library, they can select two books at a time and keep them for two weeks.  There is no penalty for overdue books but students can only have two books checked out at a time.

Middle School (grades 6-8)
Students have library for one trimester.  In middle school, we work on various activities including search methods, internet safety, research projects, reading strategies, and tools for high school.  Students may take out two books at a time and keep them for two weeks.

Students who do not have library during a given trimester can come to the library during Enrichment to check out books.
